The Power of combining Words AND Images

Under the word "Poetography" the poet and photographer Khaled Youssef combines poetry with photography in a unique manner. He combines his own photographs with his own poetry, or poetic prose from poets he admires or knows personally.

This innovative form of art that combines photography and writing grew out of his love for both these artistic and literary disciplines. Poetry has a magical quality to dive deep into our soul and awaken our imaginations. Photography freezes a moment in time and preserves the epic of life in the everyday. The words are left brain. The images are right brain. Combining photography and poetry adds up to a powerful catalyst for creative thinking.

Poetry is often rich in metaphors while photography implies a direct visual process. Thus "Poetography" leads us to address a very different way of reading a poem and of perceiving an image.
